Dear Students,

We would like to introduce the Master of Biotechnology Program (MBP) offered by Northwestern University. The MBP provides interdisciplinary training to biologists, chemists and engineers to prepare for careers in the biopharma and biotechnology industries. MBP advantages include:

• 15-month (5 quarters) MS in Biotechnology program
• Optional paid 6-month Industrial Internship (extends the program to 21 months)
• 1000 hours of research guided by a Northwestern faculty mentor.
• Core education in bioprocess engineering theory and laboratory practice.
• New certificates in “Sustainability and Global Health Biotechnologies” and “Nanobiotechnology”
• Technology commercialization seminars on the legal, regulatory, business, and ethical aspects of biotechnology, many presented by industry professionals.
• Guided practice in critical thinking and scientific writing, as well as oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Placement and career development assistance provided by a full-time industrial liaison.
• Industrial Advisory Board members visit annually to provide guidance to the program and interact with MBP students.

Announcing the Summer Clinical Research Scholars Program Course CRSP 401

CRSP 401 – Introduction to Clinical research Course Announcement
Summer 2013

We are now accepting applications for CRSP 401 “Introduction to Clinical Research” course for Summer 2013. Course schedule is July 5 through July 29, 2013, Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m. – 12 noon).
Application forms and details are posted on our website at . This course can be taken for credit or audited for no credit.
Cost for postgraduate auditors (10% of 1 credit hour): $154.60
Cost for taking this course for credit (1-3 credits): $1,546.00 – $4,638.00

1. The Postgraduate Audit Option (no credit) is available to individuals who hold M.D., D.O., D.P.M., N.D., D.D.S., or Ph.D. and are involved in CASE research or clinical programs. See Postgraduate Audit Guidelines for additional details. Generally, fellows and residents of Case-affiliated hospitals, who do not have an education allowance, will want to audit the course for no credit. Auditors pay ten percent of the regular tuition, plus the cost of books and materials. Please complete both pages of the on-line Application for Non-Degree Admission form. Please be sure to complete the “Postgraduate Audit Applicants only” section of the application.

2. The Non-Degree Option (for credit) – individuals who wish to earn credit for this course should review Non-Degree Student Registration Guidelines at and fill out the on-line Non-Degree Application Form.

CRGI operates an applied coatings research and technology laboratory. CRGI currently has and full time opportunity for an entry level coatings chemist position in our Independence, Ohio laboratory.

Position Responsibilities:
• Develop an expertise in paint formulation including the appropriate selection of raw materials, paint making and testing, data analysis and application to meet product specifications and performance requirements
• Accurately performing ASTM and internal test methods
• Accurate documentation of test results
• Commitment to CRGI’s ISO-17025 Quality Program
• Presentation of lab results and technical information in a written report format
• Ensures high professional standards in the group (including safe working habits and areas of skills/knowledge).
• Frequent and direct interaction with laboratory supervisor, suppliers, chemists and member companies
