Georgia Tech Chemistry and Biochemistry PhD Studies/Summer Research Opportunities

PhD Graduate Opportunities

We are currently accepting applications for the Ph.D. program in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Tech.  The department has gone through a major expansion over the last few years, with development of a number of new  programs resulting in wide acclaim, and national and international recognition. We offer graduate assistantships starting at $25,000 (and a waiver of tuition with health benefits) and fellowships which raise the total award package to as much as $30,500.  The research program is strong in the fundamental core areas of chemistry (analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, physical, and polymer chemistry) and there are as numerous opportunities to contribute to interdisciplinary efforts in such diverse areas as drug design, chemical biology, molecular biophysics, nanochemistry, chemical sensors, computational, environmental, materials and polymer chemistry. These are exciting times for our department, with over $30M in external research funds, excellent placement of our graduates, and superb new  facilities (including several ultra-modern interdisciplinary buildings and associated instrumentation capabilities).  Located in midtown Atlanta, graduate students enjoy the benefits of a thriving metropolitan area (sports, clubs, restaurants, shopping…) with a reasonable cost of living, as  well as easy access to the north Georgia lakes and mountains.  By completing our departmental preapplication at, we can waive the application fee. More details about all aspects of the department are available on the web at:  We encourage persons to apply by January 15, 2014.

2014 Summer Undergraduate Research

We are also accepting applications from non-seniors (US citizens/permanent residents) for the summer research program in chemistry and biochemistry at Georgia Tech (  This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduates to participate in cutting-edge research for 10-weeks at GT under the supervision of a faculty member in the department. The program also includes professional development seminars,  excursions to local research/governmental facilities, and a number of fun social activities. Housing, travel, and stipend ($4,500) are provided.   The deadline for application is February 15, 2014 (early submission of an application is encouraged).
