GOLEAD Weekend

The University of Delaware (UD) is asking for your help in identifying talented undergraduate students to participate in the GOLEAD (Graduate Opportunities: Learn, Engage And Discover) program on November 22, 2014. The program aims to increase enrollment of students from underrepresented backgrounds in PhD studies in the “chemical sciences” by informing and inspiring talented seniors on the benefits of a graduate education in the following three areas: Chemistry/Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering.

This all-expense-paid weekend will include interactive workshops, engaging presentations, and exciting networking events.

To participate, students who might consider a PhD in the chemical sciences must be nominated by a faculty member from an institute of higher education.  If you know of a promising junior or senior student who may benefit from GOLEAD, please nominate them using this simple form.

Nominated students will be asked to complete a short application that includes unofficial transcripts and a short statement of purpose.  All application materials must be completed by October 13th.  See website for complete timeline.

The goal of GOLEAD is to increase the diversity of qualified applicants to PhD programs in science and engineering throughout the United States and it is modeled after the highly successful MIT ACCESS program.  While this program is hosted at UD, participation neither obligates seniors to apply nor guarantees future admission for study at UD.

If you have any questions about the program, please do not hesitate to contact the GOLEAD program staff at golead@dbi.udel.edu.
