Duke MAT Application Reminder

Dear Prospective Student,

As we reach the end of [December], I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of key deadlines, application requirements, and funding opportunities for Duke University’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program.

Admissions Application Deadlines

The upcoming application deadline for the 2016-2017 academic year is:
January 30, 2016 (11:59 p.m. EST)

In addition, your recommenders should complete a form and upload a letter in support of your candidacy through the online system by these dates. More information is available on the How to Apply page of The Graduate School website. You can also click on the appropriate program above to set up and access your online application account.

Funding Opportunities

Duke’s MAT Program offers a number of funding opportunities, including merit- and need-based grants and fellowships. We encourage all applicants to apply for financial aid and to do so by the application deadline.

In particular, two merit awards available to master’s students are included in the online admissions application: the Durham Teaching Fellowship (individuals with a commitment to teaching in Durham) and theNational Science Foundation (NSF) Duke University Robert Noyce Fellowship program (individuals preparing to teach math or science). The applications for these merit-based awards should be submitted with your graduate application by January 30, 2016.

Test Scores and Transcripts

The Admissions Office will need to receive your test scores (e.g., GRE, TOEFL) by the application deadline as well.We look forward to reviewing your application, and we hope Duke’s MAT Program will be part of your plans for 2016.
