REU in the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering at The University of Akron

Dear Deans/Department Chairs/Faculty Members:

This is just a kindly reminder that the deadline to apply the 2016 summer research experience (REU) program in the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering at The University of Akron is approaching. We are about to review applications in a month. Please encourage qualified students to apply. The application deadline is Thursday, February 11, 2016.  Attached are our 2016 announcement and application.

This competitive REU program are sponsored by the National Science Foundation, The University of Akron, and corporate sponsors. Students will participate in an 11-week internship to investigate a fundamental question within the broad disciplines of polymer science and polymer engineering, including chemistry, physics, characterization, and biomaterials.  These interns will take part in research and career development activities, discussions outlining their research progress and visits to regional companies.  The summer will culminate with an oral or poster presentation of each intern’s research results at the Northeast Ohio NSF-REU Undergraduate Research Conference.

Stipends will be $7,000 ($2,000 are used by students to pay for on-campus housing and related expenses).

Our program will begin on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, and will end on Friday, August 12, 2016.  For further information, please visit our website:
