Visit OSBP with the Ohio State 46th Annual Graduate & Professional Student Recruitment Initiative

Biochemistry Colleagues,

**Please note there is an earlier deadline this year, Sept. 16.**

The Ohio State Graduate & Professional Student (GPS) Recruitment Initiative is a program to bring diverse senior students to campus to explore graduate school options.  The Office of Diversity & Inclusion sponsors the visits, which include meeting with programs (like the Ohio State Biochemistry Program), workshops on applying to and succeeding in graduate school, meals, hotel accommodations and a small honorarium to defray travel costs.  The event will be Oct. 16-18 this year and has a simple application (please see the attached flyer).  GPS students also have application fees waived for most programs (including OSBP).  Because we are able to interview these students early, it makes it much easier for the program to accept the student early and submit graduate fellowship nominations.

GPS is a great way for your students from diverse backgrounds to learn more about OSBP (or other programs, such as Chemistry, Biophysics, Neuroscience, or Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology).  GPS has a very broad definition of diversity, including ethnic, cultural and economic (including first generation college students), as well as students with disabilities.

If you have rising senior students from diverse backgrounds who wish to visit OSU and learn more about OSBP, please have them apply as soon as possible, and by the Sept. 16 deadline.  It would also help if you would notify me of students you recommend, so I know to look out for their applications.  Please pass this email on to your colleagues as appropriate.
