Entry Level Research & Development Chemist

Coatings Research Group Inc. ( is an international association of paint and coatings manufacturers dedicated to the benefits of shared research and development. CRGI operates an applied coatings research and technology laboratory. CRGI currently has and full time opportunity for an entry level coatings chemist position in our Independence, Ohio laboratory.

Position Responsibilities:
• Develop an expertise in paint formulation including the appropriate selection of raw materials, paint making and testing, data analysis and application to meet product specifications and performance requirements
• Accurately performing ASTM and internal test methods
• Accurate documentation of test results
• Commitment to CRGI’s ISO-17025 Quality Program
• Presentation of lab results and technical information in a written report format
• Ensures high professional standards in the group (including safe working habits and areas of skills/knowledge).
• Frequent and direct interaction with laboratory supervisor, suppliers, chemists and member companies
• Be willing to learn from peers and mentors Position Requirements •Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related scientific field from
an accredited four year college or university.
• General knowledge of chemistry
• Ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
• Must have ability to write excellent technical correspondence and reports.
• Must have ability to effectively present information (orally and written) and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
• Must use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to analyze data and generate reports.
• Ability to work carefully, follow procedures and pay strict attention to detail and quality of work
• Excellent organization and planning skills
• Proven problem-solving/decision making ability
• Less than 5% travel
• Must be a permanent resident of the U.S.
